I am extremely excited about joining The New School-West staff! I am a teacher, an artist, a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and good friend. I was born in Chicago and moved to upstate New York at the age of six, where I met my future husband, Peter, on the first day of first grade. I got a BFA in drawing and painting from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. When I returned to Chicago after graduation, I bumped into Peter by chance at a concert. Kismet! We got married and soon our son, Cole, and daughter, Ruby, came along. I owned a picture-framing shop and gallery in Chicago and, since moving to Los Angeles, have owned and operated my own after-school art enrichment program called Art for Kids. I have continued my eduation in early childhood development at Santa Monica College, Glendale Community College, UCLA Extension and Pacific Oaks College where I earned my master teaching certificate. I have taught at many schools in the Los Angeles area including Hollywood Schoolhouse, Muse School, and Wilshire Boulevard Temple Nursery School. I am currently working on two children’s books.
