Last night, August 23rd, parents gathered and signed up for committees to support the school. It was a feast of homemade food, good laughs and the beginnings of deep bonds of friendship. Volunteer and committee positions are still available, email Roleen.
We used our new kitchen for the first time! Parents gathered around the unfinished work table to sign up for various committees.
The teachers also have a staff meeting every Tuesday. This meeting is supported by the Nap Room volunteers and we’re always looking for parents available to sit in the classroom rubbing backs and reading books from 12:45-2:15 (Call or email Kris).
This staff meeting, we shared experiences with clay. Cindy and Kris picked up different varieties of clay from Linda at Peachtree Pottery on Boise and Venice. The teachers discussed terms, possibilities and strategies for working with East and West Wing children and clay this week.
West Wing children will have small group experiences with whole blocks of clay on the floor in the West Wing mini studio. We are observing how they approach the material, how they engage with each other, and what they discuss.
