We plan an evening and have intention in what we would like you to take from it. It is not just about children with children or children with teachers. It is also about parents and the community. What meaning did you find in tonight’s experience? Any surprises?
Reflections:
Sean Arian-
It is amazing how little you need to have a conversation. Just a couple of photographs, pencils and some paper for our team was the only excuse we needed to really learn about one another.
Amanda O’Keefe-
For me what was interesting was the power that came from doing different things and then coming together to reflect on them. I think a lot of times you think everyone needs to experience something at the same time for it to feel fair or complete. I think we never could’ve had the depth of experience that we had were in not in a small group.
Kristen Benjamin-Holden-
We all ended up picking the mini studio because we knew each other. I understand why Greyson pics where Jessica is rather than an activity. There is comfort in choosing to spend time with someone you already know and love.
Emily Sawyer-
I thought about the experience of entering a group and I haven’t thought about that in years. We talked about it at our parent teacher conference. I was the last person to sit down tonight and there wasn’t a chair and so I had that moment of wondering how the children feel when they come in to a group.
Sammy-
I noticed the transitions in and out as we changed from one activity to another. I think I’m good at following instructions but I found that I didn’t want to stop what I was doing.
Jess Nelson-
As a parent, I want to solve all their problems and answer all their questions. It is really beautiful to learn how to allow them to do so rather than doing it for them.

I enjoyed the unexpected conversations. You look up from what you’re doing and see people talking about what your child is doing and learn about how the children relate to one another. It is important to understand how they’re interacting in the community.
