Will Weber was part of the Sunflower Project group that will be charting the number and type of bees that visit our future sunflowers. The Sunflower Project (not to be confused with Jessica's Sunflower Group of children in the afternoon) is supported by:
San Francisco State University
Integrated Hardwoods Range Management Program
New York City Department of Parks & Recreation
Greenbelt Native Plant Center
American Museum of Natural History's Center for Biodiversity and Conservation
And is a country wide study of the dispersement of bees. For more information on this project, visit the website:

Jacob Wexler, Yuji's dad, is working with Samantha and a group of children on the planting and when he asked them why we would plant Sunflowers, the children responded "to see bees and butterflies". So, aside from charting bee visits for the country, we will also be charting butterflies, measuring growth, discovering bugs and other interests derived from the children's curiosity.
