Cilantro Sneek Peek 5/21/21

Birthday!

This week the Cilantros celebrated Leo’s 4th birthday. Happy birthday, Leo! Knowing that Leo is a lover of literacy, the Cilantros made sure Leo had his favorite books visible to be read throughout the day and invited him to dress up in his favorite character costumes. Leo’s parents were also part of the action. Tenaya and Mike sent us a recording of them reading one of Leo’s favorite stories, Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak. With Tenaya and baby Rafa on the tambourine, and Mike dropping his beats, the children enjoyed the wildest rumpus!

Afterward, we sang Leo Happy Birthday and we invited all the Cilantros to share a memory they have of Leo.

Aminata: I love you so much! I love your kindness.

Colette: I like running with you!

Copper: I like playing with you in the House Area and going to the garden.

Emme: I like building and playing castle mountain with you.

Jack: I love you because you are my best friend.

Oona: I like playing in the boxes in the sand area. You make me feel happy!

Wesley: I like playing with you in all the spaces, Leo.

Wiley: I like playing magnets with you!

Cindy: I love being in the garden with you and watching you care for the roly poly bugs.

Julia: I love reading books with you.

Silvana: I love how you support your friends to make love loops and your maskless face.

In addition to sharing some of their favorite memories, the Cilantros all made birthday cards for Leo with love loops to show how connected they are. Thank you to Leo’s family for making our snack sweeter with homemade muffins. The children loved them!

Marley will be joining the Cilantros! After spending time with the Mint group online, Marley is ready to join us in the classroom. His first day will be this Monday, May 24th. On Thursday night, we hosted an evening to welcome Marley’s parents, Heather and Jake, into the Cilantro parent group. It was a fun, intimate evening learning about Marley and his family. Thank you Cilantro families for a great beginning to building new friendships!

Thank you Wiley’s family for the beautiful flowers this week! They truly brighten our West Wing spaces and provide children with multiple opportunities for exploration and investigation. Here’s the link to our SignUpGenius for classroom flowers:
