It’s Monday, May 20th

It’s Monday, May 20, 2013, and it’s a bright sunny day.  So much is going on as we quickly count the days while winding down our school year and planning for our new one.  Below is a brief caption to give you a little detail but before you begin reading, close your eyes for a moment and send a prayer out for Paige (Brooks WW) as she takes on the first of many days of chemotherapy. I know she knows how much we’re with her and this good NSW energy is an amazing support that always brings out the best in all of us.  Together, we are definitely better.  Thanks for that. . .and here we go:  xoxoxR

June 1st  (9:00 to 2:00):  Teachers will be here to play for our Free Kids Day Out at NSW.  It’s a thank you day.  We appreciate that you supported us as we attended a two- day conference at Opal School in Portland.  You should check out their website.  Pretty impressive, and we walked away very inspired.  Mark your calendars for June 11th from 6:30 to 8:30and we’ll share all we learned and our goals for the new school year.

June 6th (7:00 to 9:00):  The Grossmans will host this annual Wine with Roleen for the Graduating Parents. It was established a few years ago as a way to support the parents who are moving on to “the big world”!  Recognizing that the children are more ready than we are. . . How can we support each other in the transition?

June 9th (1:00 to 4:00):  It’s now a tradition that Jim and I officially thank you for being a part of and making this an amazing school year with a Taco/Marguerita party in our backyard at 1636 S. Point View St. in L.A. 90035.  It’s for parents only, just a day to hang out and let us appreciate you.  If you want to, you can sign up for. . .

June 9th (12:30 to 4:30): Kids Day Out with Flora and her girls at NSW for those of you attending the taco party.  There is limited space and sign ups and fees are posted on the door.

June 11th (8:30 to 10:30):  EW Parents’ Day.  Come and let us pamper you a bit.  The children will make you some fresh squeezed OJ and we’ll have coffee, tea, and a few little nibbles.  But before you head off to work, plan to stay, walk the classrooms and let your child show you their favorite spaces.  We’ll have a group circletime with you at 10:15 or so and then we’ll say our goodbyes at 10:30.  If your child does not come on Tuesday, please bring them and enjoy the morning with us.  They have a gift for you!

June 11th (6:30 to 8:30):  Come and be a part of our Roundtable Discussion as we share what we learned at Opal School.  We’ll show you some inspirational environments, small group projects, and developing a sense of place.  And come ready to review and create our Mission Statement as we look at ourselves in a deeper way, together with our parent community.  We need you!

June 12th (8:30 to 10:30):  WW Parents’ Day. If your child does not come on Wednesday, please bring them and enjoy the morning with us.  They have a gift for you!

June 14th (12:00 to 2:00):  Teacher Appreciation Luncheon at NSW.  The Teacher Appreciation Committee is organizing this and you’ll be hearing from them soon.  It was originally on the calendar for this week but there’s just too much going on so. . . Stay posted as to how you can say Thanks! to the sweetest teachers ever!

June 18th (3:30 to 5:00):  The EW teachers will present the children’s work to the parents on how “The Kingdom” got started and all the stories and collaboration that went into this amazing long term (6 months plus?!) project.  You don’t have to be an EW parent to enjoy this exciting presentation.  There will be a sign up on the door if you’re coming, this, so we have the right teacher support for the children.

June 19th (6:45 to 8:45):  Parent Orientation Night.  Can you believe it’s time to welcome our new and returning families?!  Didn’t we just do this?!  If you can be here to greet, bring some nibbles and lend your support, great.  We’ll let you know details closer to the time. Check for coming sign ups sheets.

June 22nd:  NSW Campout.  There’s sign up sheet on the door.  Always a fun event and

. . no. . .I won’t be there.  I’m leaving the camping to the professionals!!!
