Sharon (Liv’s mom, WW) came to school to cook Matzo with the children. She guided the group through the recipe and had them measure out and combine the ingredients. Then the girls made small balls of dough that they rolled into very flat pieces.
Palmer: What’s Matzo?
Liv: Matzo is big and it’s like a cracker.
Persephone: Matzo is very tricky to make. It’s hard to take off the tray. (After you roll it flat.)
Evera (walking over after finishing snack):What are you making?
Lev: Matzo
Liv: It’s a kind of cracker.
Lev: No, it’s a kind of dry bread.
Persephone: Yea, it’s not like a wet bread.
Sharing recipes from home brings the whole school a little closer together through food. Lev was familiar with Matzo and she and Liv created one more thread between them that ties us in friendship. Come share a recipe and connect the children through a love of cooking, familiar smells, and family traditions. Talk with Teacher Ivana to schedule it.
