OVF report

I wanted to give a big, big thanks to Kai and his Niranjan and Debbie Jones for helping me in the garden on Tuesday.  It was a great help, since I wasn't feeling all that great, and together we finished off the third planter box.  We filled it with dirt and it is now all ready for …well, I'm not sure yet. On deck we have some pumpkins, corn, more tomatoes as well as Roma beans.

We added some strawberries, flat-leaf parsley and cilantro to the other boxes.  One of the tomato plants is flowering nicely and I am closely watching it, waiting for the fruit to set.  This can be a nerve racking time for tomato growers.  Tomatoes are notorious for dropping their blossoms.  A heart-ache when you realize that all your dreams of sweet, red fruits are landing on the dirt below.  Treat your tomatoes like you would a supermodel.  Don't feed it too much or will not earn it's keep. Oh, and water only when it is thirsty. (The tomatoes that is.)

Kris will not be going to the garden this Friday.  Next week, I will be at the garden on Wednesday at 1:00pm.  There will be a field trip with the Morning Glories that afternoon.

Happy Planting
Sarah Pinder
