Transitions continued: “I’m scared. I feel it in my foot.” – Sawyer

Among the teachers, discussions have taken place about prospective changes to the environment that included the children’s wishes for the new year. We’ve ‘tried on’ a lot of what the East Wing has to offer and started to see ourselves as a group in a new space together.

Both wings have reflected on our next steps for the upcoming year and have shared feelings about the transitions. In the West Wing, we are excited to join Avey, Harrison, Lily, Naomi, and Poppy in the East Wing! To make this information tangible, the teachers from both wings have made a large board clarifying who will be going where in the next school year.

Lucy C: My heart says I love it here.

Arnon: I really wanted to move to the East Wing and I feel happy!

Aliana: I wish we could have a dollhouse. My dad could help make it!

Leo: I wish we could have a real phone in the house area and real audio.

Luca: I wish we could have a real camera!

Barrett: I feel scared and happy.

Sonia: I wish this classroom could look like our classroom.

Sawyer: I’m scared. I feel it in my foot!

Teacher Silvana: I feel scared and excited at the same time! We’re going through a change. Look around, we’re not doing this alone! We have each other for support.

We’re envisioning ourselves in a gorgeous future together. We’re seeing new relationships on the horizon and solidifying good, old relationships too! –                                                                                                                 Everyone at The New School-West
