Upcoming Calendar Reminders
Monday, January 18th: SCHOOL CLOSED for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Monday, February 15th: SCHOOL CLOSED for Presidents’ Day
Friday, March 5th & Monday, March 8th: SCHOOL CLOSED for West Coast Collaborative Reggio Conference with Teachers
In case anyone still has the remnants of the original short NSW calendar sent last spring, we have also changed two days that were intended to be closed for staff retreat and inservice — February 12th and March 26th — and will now be open on those days in place of these. We have made this plan to be sure teachers have this opportunity to collaborate with our local colleagues and mentors from Italy. We are grateful for your flexibility and support as we continue to value these professional development opportunities during this challenging time.
Spring Break
Monday March 29th through Friday, April 2nd: SCHOOL CLOSED
Our next parent zooms will be on Wednesday, January 20 at 2:45pm (Cilantro) and 3:15pm (Dandelion). As a reminder, these regularly scheduled parent zooms will be on the Third Wednesday of the month. If you misplace the link for the meeting, you can always check out the “Zoom Links” section of the Quick Reference menu on our NSW blog.
Flowers
Thank you to Arya’s and Wiley’s family for bringing festive bouquets of flowers this week. These bouquets beautified both our indoor and outdoor spaces. Flowers freshen up our small tables and then offer exploratory investigation along with representation possibilities as they dry out.

The Dandelions
What a week it was! Filled with thoughts and good wishes of wellness for our other half of the Dandelions: Cary, Eddie, Evyn, Leon, Olivia, Zoe, and teacher Dana. The focus for the week was to let them know how much we miss and love them.
Our walk to the post office on Thursday went very well. The children had the determination for getting to the mailbox and we did it! It was our first and longest walk and they rocked it! They are already asking when the next walk is going to happen. Marcel woke up from his nap saying: Can we go on a walk?
**And to clarify, on our appointment board announcement I mixed up Walgrove Blvd., for Grandview Blvd. Sorry for the confusion.
Here are a few words from the children while working on their cards:
Marcel: I’m making a firetruck for Cary.
Ana: I think Leon and Zoe are going to like the card.
Emma: Evyn will like the purple sparkles.
Spencer: How do you spell Eddie’s name?
Arya: Look how beautiful it is! Should we put it in the sun so Zoe and Leon don’t get messy?
Marcel: Cary is going to say, “Sticky! Stick, dry!”
Words for Dana:
Marcel: Dana likes the whole circle because of the friends.
Spencer: She likes the whole circle because she likes Emma and Olivia so much.
Emma: She likes me and Evyn.
Ana: She likes me and Marcel.
Arya: Because she likes Emma and Ana too.
Marcel: I think Dana likes crocodiles and komodo dragons.
Words for Mr. Matt Irion (Olivia’s grandpa).
Emma: He is kind.
Ana: I drew him a snake.
Arya: Did Santa give him a gift?
Zoe: I think he likes blue (Zoe had made a card before the break).
Eddie: Thanks for the reindeer.
Spencer: Thanks for the reindeer.
Marcel: Thanks for the reindeer.
Let this perspective from the children be our contagion of health and motivation to a brighter tomorrow and the reason to take good care of ourselves and be kind to others.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Evelyn and Flora.
